In Frontier Park (500 S. Riverside Dr.) by the stage on the Katy Trail in St. Charles, MO, together, Emerge Fitness Training and JPH Running are holding a summer running camp specific to developing female endurance athletes -entering grades 6-12
We will gather for two separate sessions: (July 4-8) and (August 1-5) from 8-10 am to connect, guide, and empower our fellow female athletes.
This camp is for distance runners, soccer players, lacrosse players, or an athlete who has a goal to improve her aerobic base through proper running technique and progression in an inviting, natural setting.
Specific skills we will cover are:
-The importance of building an age-in-sport specific base- progressively
-The magic of consistency and embracing the ups and downs that are training.
-Executing a proper warm up including activation and form drills.
-Strength and mobility for developing female runners.
-GOAL setting - season, year, career
-Confidence building strategies the pros use: power pose, words, mantras, journals, friendships...
- Female athletes' identity, relationship with our body and food.
- Female specific training strategies (menstruation, puberty, iron, RED-s. )
The camp's fundamental objectives are to show females that working together in community and spirit can lift us all to the best versions of ourselves in and out of sports. The girls will notice how having accountability, fueling confidence, and building relationships can be an avenue to be a better athlete and overall human. My greatest friendships and role models are my running buddies, competitors included.
The girls will leave this week bonding with teammates and others in our running community. Embracing our multidimensional and complex femininity: we are allowed to be fiercely competitive and focused while at the same time caring, kind, compassionate, and respectful. When we take the distrust that breeds fear and anxiety out of the equation in female sports, we open ourselves up to a level of performance and connection that breeds fast times and wins for all.
Teaching females that our identity is not what we do but how we do it- focusing on identifying our core values and beliefs as a means of self love and care. Then, we run.
I don't know about you, but these are the characteristics of a human I want to witness in our future leaders. Girls, you can want to win, be the best, and be a team player who is caring and respectful at the same time.
The camp will meet for Session ONE July 4-8 from 8-10am and Session TWO August 1-5 from 8-10am
Located Frontier Park by the stage at 500 S. Riverside. Open to females of all running abilities entering 6-13 grade level.
